Time took to complete: 7hrs 11mins
First thing's first, 'Checkpoints failed or started': 86. That's the
in-game stat. Now I'm not 100% sure what "failed or started" means but I
bet majority of 86 is me failing.
Reason is, I found the gun fights really hard and frustrating. You would
clear an area and take fort to clear the next 'wave' and in a matter of
seconds before you know what's what, you got guys coming at you from
all angles. I screamed "WHERE THE FUCK ARE THEY COMING FROM?!?! F YOU
GAME!!" so many times during gun fights it's not even funny.
That's not the only problem. The aiming isn't smooth, which adds to the
annoyance, you get 'stuck' when trying to aim diagonally.
And when enemies with RPGs and Grenade launchers who have 99.9% accuracy
kill you, you just want to throw the PS3 at the TV. And this is on
Normal!!! I can't wait to find out through YouTube videos how the fuck
you beat these gun fights on Hard, let alone Insane!!
Maybe I was doing something super wrong but I used cover, which sucks
because they flank you so freakin' fast, even when blindfiring at them. I
also got the Headshot medal, so I wasn't too bad, it's just the game
has too many cheap tactics up it's sleeve.
Combat rant over but boy did it piss me off.
Other than that, what I said in the official Uncharted 3 thread remains. I'm super glad I didn't feel like I bought Uncharted2.5 and overall it was a great adventure.
But that's all it is folks. A great adventure to sit through thanks to
it's awesome set pieces. It won't give you story of the year (although
it has it's moments), nor will it give you the best gameplay of the
year- Which is a huge shame.
Great, but could have been epic.
8/10.
