2011.13: Crysis 2

Time took to complete: 6hours 37mins

It's probably longer than the time stated there but I started skipping cutscenes after around mission 5 or 6 (just to note: I still watched some bits of the cut-scenes, but after a few seconds, I got the gist of it and didn't want to put up with the way it's been told so I pressed skip at that point). I honestly didn't feel they cared about the story and it was just mind numbingly dull.
So if you like a story to push your FPS forward, definitely avoid this one IMO.

Graphics, yes, superb. Some parts look picture perfect.
However, I felt it lacked 'character'. New York being destroyed never felt like NY being destroyed. This has probably to do with the bad story but I just never cared about the destruction around NY or I never even felt like I was in NY. Bad immersion basically.

Gameplay is OK, it gives you more freedom than usual but after a couple hours in you are either a "put on armour, blaze through" or "put on sneak and walk through" kind of guy and you never have a reason to change your ways. Eveything in the game stays the same forever. Small to medium size area, few enemy placements, use one of those two powers and done. For a "sandbox" structure, it lacked powers and options IMO.

I was also disappointed with lack of variety or set-pieces in this game. Like the driving bits really were awesome, simply because they broke up the walk-shoot flow but they were too short and too few of them and there was nothing else to add variety.
Even enemies, all same.

I don't know, overall it left a very bad taste. It does very small things right and things it does right are done on an "OK" level. Everything else is pretty boring standard FPS stuff.
Only outstanding part was the graphics and I'm waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayy past being excited about good (or superb in this case) graphics.

I really can't push myself to give it any higher than;
6/10.
